Google Ads Success - Case study for Yorkshire firm

This Yorkshire based Construction Plant Training Company were looking for improved Google Ads performance and a more communicative Google Ads Agency partner than our predecessor.

Introduction to the project:

A Yorkshire based construction plant training company got in touch with us looking for a more cohesive and profitable partnership with their Digital Marketing Agency, having grown dissatisfied with their existing Agency.

They were looking for both a better return on investment, and a more communicative partner that kept them abreast of performance and changes, through regular reporting, and updates as and when it was required.

As with our other clients, having a Whatsapp group for day-to-day conversation proved really fruitful, allowing for simple conversations, real time.

Our process:

We started with a face-to-face meeting to understand the clients’ objectives, their services, their market, and ideal customer.

It’s important for us to have an idea on the clients’ expectations before we provide a proposal and agree to work together.

What followed this meeting was a proposal, including our costs, and proposed click budgets payable to Google, which our client accepted.

As the client already had a Google Ads account, we audited past performance and setup, before getting to work on setting up conversion tracking, performing thorough keyword research, creating compelling ad copy and assets, and setting up the campaigns. At the end of each month, the client received detailed reporting, including our actions, and any information we required from them to improve the efficiency of the account.

The outcome:

In the 9 months working with the client so far, the results have been incredibly positive. This really demonstrates the benefit of putting in the time in to research the client, their market, competition and keywords, as the time investment at out the outset has ultimately delivered these results for the client:

First 6 months:

  • CTR – down to 3.5% from 4.1%
  • Cost per click – flat
  • Conversion rate – up from below 1%, to 3.5%
  • Cost per conversion – down from £80.81, to £19.60 (meaning each conversion costs them a quarter of what it did with their previous Agency!)

The next 3 months:

This is where the performance really scaled up:

See comparisons to previous Agency

  • CTR – up to 6.7% from 4.1%
  • Cost per click – up to £0.81 from £0.69
  • Conversion rate – up from below 1%, to 6.8%
  • Cost per conversion – down from £80.81, to £11.82 (meaning each conversion costs them a SEVENTH of what it did with their previous Agency!)

As you can see from the above, the client has taken a £0.12 hit in each visit to the website, however, with a 6x increase in the conversion rate, and a 7x reduction in what each conversion costs the business, we’re sure they were delighted to pay a little bit more for each visit!

We Ran A Competition And Here’s How It Went…

Competitions often have a lot of stigma and could be seen as bribing people to follow you. However, if done correctly, a good competition can actually bring businesses together, reach a wider audience and give back to the community.
