Some Of Our Great Clients:

What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimisation.

SEO is a process which is performed by SEO Agencies, with the aim of getting their customers websites to the top of search engines such as Google and Microsoft Bing.

There are various elements to SEO, but to summarize, SEO is split into three categories: on-page SEO, off-page SEO and technical SEO.

On-page SEO includes factors such as the use of relevant keywords in the right elements of each page; optimal use of internal links and external links where appropriate; ensuring your content is unique and well written, and optimisation of meta data (page titles and meta description)

Ultimately, Search Engines favour sites that users interact positively with, which is why user experience (UX) is a major factor in the success of any website. This means sites that draw users who bounce straight off (without visiting other pages or following a call to action) and spend little time on the site, will struggle to rank at the top of Search Engines. UX should be the core focus behind any website, and this is where on-page SEO and UX can clash, as for example, too much focus on keywords (keyword cramming), may negatively impact the users experience of the website.

Off-page SEO refers more widely to external factors that contribute to the perceived authority of the website, such as backlinks (external links from other websites of high authority) and social queues, such as lots of shares of your content on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter.

Technical SEO does as it says on the tin and relates to more complex factors such as page speed, mobile friendliness, image optimisation and broken links.

SEO is a time consuming and continual process and results are very rarely instant. It takes patience and a lot of back and forth, understanding what is working, and what isn’t and ensuring successes are replicated, and those changes with no impact, or a negative impact are avoided.

Whilst most digital savvy individuals can have a crack at SEO, an SEO Agency has the experience, time and resource to execute an SEO strategy to perfection and deliver desired results.

Pros of SEO

  • It is estimated that the first organic result achieves around 30% of click throughs. This could result in a lot of relevant traffic.

  • Unlike outbound marketing and selling, with inbound traffic from SEO, your traffic is much more likely to carry interest and intent in your services, as they have searched the exact terms you’re targeting to find you.

  • When it comes to organic versus paid ads, it is thought that users would prefer to buy from pages that rank well in organic results, as they believe them to be more trustworthy.

  • You don’t pay per click on SEO. Once you’re in the highly coveted organic top spot, you can expect lots of traffic. Free traffic!

Cons of SEO

  • SEO can be a long process. If you are given guarantees of appearing in that top spot, be careful. There is no time frame we can put on success, it depends on various factors, including the industry and the competition within it.

  • SEO is also a continual process. Just because you’ve reached page one, doesn’t mean you’ll be there forever. Stop, and it’s likely your competition will catch you up, and fast.

Frequently Asked Questions

Search Engine Optimisation

SEO (search engine optimisation) is the process of ensuring your website is optimised through on-page, off-page and technical SEO to give it the best chance of appearing high up in Search Engines such as Google.

SEO is a time consuming process, which is complex in parts. As an SEO Agency, we have the time, resource and expertise to research, plan and execute an SEO strategy.

Improving organic ranking isn’t something that happens overnight, and it requires hard work and persistence. Even when you get to a point where you feel like you are succeeding, you can’t take your foot off the gas, as it can drop away as quickly as it improves.

As a rough guide, work on 3-6 months. It’s impossible to say for sure with SEO and varies case to case. For some industries, where there is little competition, it’s possible to make improvements quickly, whereas other can take a little longer.

It also depends on your current ranking. If you have rankings on page 2 or 3 that are missing a few easy fixes, it might be that these pages are easier to rank on page 1 more quickly. Again, dependent on the industry.

Keywords are crucial in the success of an SEO campaign and should be chosen using your experience, with the assistance of an SEO Agency, very carefully at the beginning of the project.

Without the right keyword targeting, attracting the right customer with the right terms is extremely difficult.

You might end up ranking for a keyword, but ultimately the keyword should fulfil your objectives and lead to sales/leads for the business.

Whether you sell b2b, b2c or both, if your ideal customers are searching online for your products or services, SEO is relevant for you!

If you want a quick fix, pay per click through mediums such as Google Ads, or Facebook, is the way to go.
